Jensen Ackles’ Return and Colter’s ‘Strange’ Case Are Clear From First Look

The trailer for Trackers season two teases one of the series’ strangest stories yet. The CBS action drama follows lone wolf survivor Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley), who uses his skills as a tracker to help some people in need. Hartley is expected to return for Trackers season 2, which also stars Sofia Pernas as Billie Matalon, Abby McEnany as Velma Bruin, Jennifer Morrison as Lizzy Hawking, and Jensen Ackles as Colter’s brother Russell Shaw, although Robin Weigert will not be returning as Teddi Bruin.

CBS has now unveiled the official trailer for Tracker season 2. The trailer begins with Colter investigating a mysterious disappearance in the woods involving a man who left his phone and his car door open. He then takes on a case that is described as “a little strange.” This is followed by a shot of him being lit up from above while in a field, a scene that appears to mimic an alien abduction. The trailer also shows the return of Ackles’ Russell, who drives alongside Colter in what appears to be an awkward silence. Check out the full trailer below:

What the new trailer means for Tracker season 2

Tracker’s strange case remains a mystery

For now, the strange case that was teased in the Tracker season 2 trailer remains unknown. However, despite the implications of Colter’s mysterious shot, it seems highly unlikely that the show will actually introduce an extraterrestrial threat. It seems that the presence of the lights could very well be due to a helicopter landing in the area or some similar incident, though it’s still not common.

Her reunion with Russell could also suggest that the formerly estranged brothers are slowly rebuilding their relationship.

The video also reveals that Colter will be building more connections with others, gradually abandoning his lone wolf lifestyle bit by bit. While the trailer shows him slowly gaining the respect of a character who doesn’t appreciate people looking for rewards, his reunion with Russell could also suggest that the formerly estranged brothers are slowly rebuilding their relationship. The tense scene could come from an upcoming storyline involving Colter discovering a secret about his mother’s past, which could put the two back in each other’s cross paths.

Our Take on the Tracker Season 2 Trailer

The Provocation Is Both Frustrating and Compelling

While the new trailer raises more questions than it answers, these lingering questions, combined with the on-screen reunion of the returning Tracker cast, are more than enough to make the video a convincing teaser for the return of the hit series. This is especially true when it comes to the reunion of Colter and Russell, who still have a lot to work through when it comes to their pasts and their unresolved feelings about their father’s death.

Tracker season two premieres on CBS on Sunday, October 13.
