Jensen Ackles Returns to Tracker Season 2 as Russell Shaw Revealed in Image
New BTS Russell Shaw returns to Tracker Season 2 as Jensen Ackles shares a new image from the set of the show. While CBS’s new hit series only has one main character, Justin Hartley has a solid group of Trackers joining him, making the story more interesting. Along with his professional team, including Reenie and Velma, among others, Colter Shaw’s family is also a big part of the series, especially with the long-running story of his father’s mysterious death. That prompts Ackles to return as Shaw’s brother as the show moves into its second year.
Taking to his official Instagram account, Ackles shared a photo of himself on the set of Tracker season 2. Check out the image below: Unfortunately, Ackles’ photo doesn’t reveal any details about the story for season 2. He shared in the caption that he had finished filming for his original return as Russell, but he added that he was looking forward to returning.
Tracker’s extensive storyline delves into his family history. For the longest time, Colter believed that his brother had killed their father. The brothers had no communication for years until Russell contacted them about a case in the penultimate episode of season 1. During their reunion, Colter’s brother also revealed that their mother had convinced him to leave. Unfortunately, since they were also working on a case, they couldn’t sit down together and discuss their personal puzzles. There were doubts about Russell’s return in Tracker season 2 due to Ackles’ busy schedule, but things have since been resolved.
To make things better, Ackles is also confirmed to appear in more than one episode. According to the Tracker season 2 SDCC panel, Russell will be in episode 2 next year. The outing is still untitled, but Hartley has revealed that the story will involve UFOs. It’s unclear how the Shaw brothers will reunite, but considering their reconciliation in season 1, it would be easy to see them meet again. This would also allow Tracker season 2 to delve into the mystery of their father’s death in the future. At this point, it’s unlikely the series will be resolved without Russell.
Ackles may not have revealed when he’ll be back on the set of Tracker season 2, but it’s comforting to know that he’ll eventually be back to film his next confirmed appearance on the show. Perhaps when he returns, the CBS procedural can finally reunite all three Shaw kids, with Colter, Russell, and Dory, so they can work together to find out the truth behind their father’s death.
