Jeremy Clarkson and his partner Lisa Hogan are set to return to Diddly Squat Farm
Jeremy Clarkson has confessed to facing a major “dilemma” on his show, Clarkson’s Farm. He also expressed concerns that it would be a “rough year” for his Cotswolds-based business.
This comes amid his claims that achieving the government’s Net Zero targets could make it nearly impossible for farmers to maintain sufficient food production. In his most recent column, he wrote: “It’s very important that we have the ability to feed ourselves, but we simply cannot do that when the main mission is to achieve Net Zero.”
He then expressed his predicament on his farm, where cost-cutting measures often mean not employing the most environmentally friendly methods. Clarkson added: “This old-fashioned system means the soil is turned over, so the weeds are buried and, owing to a lack of sunshine, die.”
The third instalment of the massively popular Amazon Prime series depicted the ups and downs the team at Diddly Squat encounter as they work the land, with the assistance of farm manager Kaleb Cooper, land agent Charlie Ireland, head of security Gerald Cooper and his partner Lisa Hogan.
It portrayed them dealing with the death of beloved animals and a dispute with the council over their farm shop. However, now, ahead of series four, the overall operation of the farm is in jeopardy. This comes as this summer’s grim weather forecast looks set to impact their ability to produce profitable crops, reported the Express.
May was an exceptionally wet month, with rainfall most days meaning that Jeremy’s crops were waterlogged. The 64-year-old farmer shared an aerial photo taken of three fields that, although green, were patchy throughout on his Instagram account. He captioned it: “It’s going to be a rough year. All that seed sowed, drowned with the constant rain.”
Jeremy Clarkson’s farming endeavours have left fans disheartened after encountering yet another challenge. One sympathiser voiced their support on Instagram and said: “Oh no this is awful! You make me see just how much work goes into farming, the money and work that goes into it is bonkers, take my hat off to all farmers around the world because that is a graft. Gutted for you all with this weather as well!”
Another shared their frustration: “Just can’t catch a break!” Meanwhile, a third commenter expressed their solidarity: “It is heartbreaking for you and all of us who need the farming community.” Someone else noted: “That 1 field is really struggling then add in the rabbit and deer damage. Hope it picks up a bit.”
Anticipation for the next instalment of Clarkson’s Farm is building, with speculation about its release. A teaser image shared by Jeremy, featuring Clarkson’s Farm Four, has led fans to predict a spring 2025 release.
