On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:
Foster’s Bookstore: Foster tells Abe he passed the tutor training with flying colors. Julie hands him a folder saying he has a mentee ready to go. She says he can use the bookstore for all of his meetings. Abe inquires and Foster says Julie is the new owner of the bookstore as of today! Abe congratulates Julie, says goodbye to Foster and exits.
Julie asks Foster how he’s feeling. He admits it is bittersweet as it has been his life. Julie couldn’t handle the bookstore falling into the wrong hands. Foster believes he is leaving his business in the best hands. They chat a bit more before Foster grabs his head in pain and collapses.
Brady Pub: Theo and Paulina are awaiting Abe’s arrival. While they wait, Theo asks for professional advice as he has been offered an executive position at DiMera if Tony gets it back. He thinks he is a nepo baby but Paulina says he is no such thing (well sort of) and praises him for securing a potential job so quickly. Theo worries Abe will be upset as he never wanted him to be a part of the DiMera business. Paulina is supportive but Theo is learning towards saying no.
Paulina can’t believe Theo would turn down a great job because of what Abe might think. She thinks Theo could very much change DiMera instead of the family changing him. Paulina reminds him that he is a grown man who makes his own decision. Just then, Abe arrives and Theo shuts down the conversation.
Abe tells his wife and son about his new mentee in the literacy program. He thinks Theo may know him as they graduated from high school in the same year. Theo confirms he remembers the young man who made his life a living hell. Abe wants to try to help him and asks Theo if that’s ok. Abe promises to do some digging before fully getting involved.
Stephanie’s Place: Kayla is helping Stephanie pack up. She admits moving in with Alex is a little scary. Kayla thinks it’s also exciting and is going to be great. Just then, she sees something she shouldn’t and asks Stephanie what a “blog tour” is. Stephanie panics and then explains it’s for authors, especially those writing under a pseudonym. Before Stephanie can wrestle it away, Kayla notices the name Anastasia Sands. She is beside herself thinking La Sands is her daughter’s clients and is disappointed when Stephanie shuts her down. She reminds her mother she needs to return to the hospital and the both of them head out.
Johnny and Chanel’s Digs: The couple are baby proofing their place in hopes they will soon be adopting Little T. With that, they get back to filling out the official forms.
Johnny continues to worry his work history isn’t more stable, but Chanel says all will be good no matter what happens with Tony’s lawsuit. They talk about his eventual dream of being a filmmaker in Hollywood. For now, his dream is to become a dad and raise a child with his beloved. They chat a bit more before realizing they need to have the baby’s room set up before the social worker visits.
Melinda’s Office: Sophia storms in and tells Melinda they have a Johnny DiMera problem. She goes off about Johnny and Chanel trying to adopt the firehouse baby. Sophia says she is not letting them adopt her little boy. Melinda tells Sophia to slow her roll as no choices have been made by social services. Sophia notes the DiMera influence and Paulina’s position as mayor. Melinda admits they do have some points in their favor.
Melinda reminds Sophia that Johnny and Chanel are the same solid potential parents they were before. Sophia agrees about Chanel but thinks Johnny will be a dud dad, especially considering his own father. Melinda thinks something else is going on and Sophia admits she is worried about the baby being so close. Melinda says she doesn’t get a say, an idea Sophia brutally rebuffs. Melinda reminds her that she decided to give her baby up and needs to focus on school and getting on with her life.
Sophia all but begs Melinda to intervene as her baby can’t be with those horrid people. Melinda says she can accuse Mayor Price of using undue influence. Sophia doesn’t want to get Mayor Price in trouble as Johnny is the reason her life spun out of control.
University Hospital – Lobby: Kayla and Stephanie run into Julie and she tells them about Foster. Kayla goes off to check, and Stephanie assures Julie her friend is in good hands.
University Hospital – Exam Room: Kayla tells Foster he experienced a drop in blood pressure and notes his untreated kidney disease and wants to discuss treatment options (Hmmm, what is going on?).
Julie and Stephanie talk about the free clinic in Tom Horton’s name. Julie wonders about his motives as Stephanie does. That being said, she believes the clinic can do a lot of good and notes she is the one who led him to name it after Tom. Julie is grateful and relents asking how she could help. Stephanie talks about the gala and asks if Julie could help and reach out to her whole family. Julie is always looking for an excuse for a Horton family reunion.
Horton Square: Johnny and Chanel went baby shopping and got all kinds of stuff. They both feel all kinds of optimistic about the adoption. They embrace just as Sophia walks up.
Endings
Abe heads off as he sees someone he knows. Paulina takes the opportunity to ask Theo why he didn’t say anything about his potential new job. Theo says he wants to way her words for a minute before mentioning it to his father. She promises not to say anything until he does.
Kayla tells Foster not to think about getting on a plane until they get his blood pressure under control.
Stephanie promises to update Julie when details are available about the gala. Julie is thankful the gala is in her hands and says her grandfather was an amazing man. To have his life’s work honored in this way would have made him very happy. She says there is one homecoming they won’t have to wait for as Jeremy Horton has a job in town and is returning very soon. Stephanie seems less than thrilled with the news.
Sophia listens as Johnny and Chanel get all excited about the potential adoption. Chanel heads over to Sweet Bits to grab pastries as they want to be prepared for the social worker who will arrive the next day.
