In a statement made to PEOPLE, Sweetin expressed discontent over her latest project, Craft Me a Romance, being sold to GAF. The actor revealed that she is “disappointed” by the decision, something she was unaware of, but continued to voice her support for the LGBTQ+ community. Read Sweetin’s comments regarding her upcoming film below:
” Sometimes, we, as actors, don’t have control over which network buys the projects we are in, nor are we a part of the process in which they get sold. So I was very surprised to learn by reading about it in the press yesterday that the independent film I worked on over a year ago was sold to Great American Family. I am disappointed, but in keeping with my mission of supporting the LGBTQ+ family, any potential or future money made from this sale will be donated to LGBTQ+ organizations. ”
Craft Me a Romance, which follows Sweetin’s character, an art store owner faced with the possibility of losing her business, is scheduled to premiere in September. While GAF’s content may appear similar to that of Hallmark, the network has drawn controversy surrounding its lack of inclusivity and traditional marriage storytelling. Sweetin herself has supported the LGBTQ+ community in past occasions, and even showed love to Jojo Siwa when the star called Bure out on social media in 2022.
There has been speculation about a rift in the relationship between Sweetin and Bure, and after the former expressed her feelings regarding the sale of Craft Me a Romance, it could get called into question again. Neither actor has directly addressed the rumors, but both did appear together at the ’90s Con event, which took place earlier this year. Another Full House co-star, David Coulier, recently talked about Sweetin and Bure’s alleged feud, and though nothing was confirmed, he shared that the cast is still bonded.
Although various actors have made the transition from Hallmark Channel to GAF, it seems evident that Sweetin will not work with the network. Fans of Sweetin will likely appreciate her stance, in addition to her continued support of the LGBTQ+ community. Given her remarks about the movie being sold, it is worth wondering if GAF or former Full House star, Bure, will say anything.
