Now that Roseanne Barr has destroyed his future of starring in a controversial ABC sitcom, John Goodman can return to a simpler life of appearing in Oscar-winning movies.
The actor—known for appearing in a number of Coen brothers movies—finally broke his silence after Barr’s racist Twitter rant got Roseanne canceled. “Everything’s fine,” he assured Entertainment Tonight in a new video. “I wasn’t gonna get an Emmy anyway. I’ve been up there [11] times already, and if I didn’t get one, I’m not gonna get one.”

He declined to get into it any further, but given his critically acclaimed career outside of Roseanne, you kind of have to believe that he’s doing alright.
News broke yesterday that ABC might consider moving forward with the show without Barr, which Goodman said he didn’t know anything about.
Throughout the press tour for Roseanne’s reboot, Goodman often dodged political questions, letting Barr talk about her love for Trump. Instead, Goodman was open about his battle with alcoholism. His line was often that he “didn’t care” what the politics were on the show, as he told Seth Meyers. The closest he got to addressing politics was when The Hollywood Reporter asked him if the reboot would have been as powerful if Hillary had won the election. “Yeah, because the family is still sunk no matter who gets in [the White House],” Goodman responded.
