Two years after a rare Full House reunion, John Stamos has shared and image of a cast reunion that also includes the Olsen Twins. The sitcom began in 1987 and followed Danny Tanner (the late Bob Saget) as he attempted to raise his children as a single father. Focusing on the complicated Full House family tree, it had a relatively uncommon depiction of parenting. The show ran until 1995 and had a sequel, Fuller House, that aired from 2016 to 2020. Saget appeared in a recurring role until his death in 2022.
Because of the sequel, Full House reunions are far from uncommon since much of the original cast made appearances. The Olsen twins, who played Michelle Tanner, are the exception, as they neglected to appear in Fuller House. In a newly-revealed Instagram post, however, Stamos revealed that they did reunite with the cast in 2022.
As the Full House cast prepared for Saget’s funeral in January 2022, they gathered to celebrate his life and legacy. The Olsen twins were present for this bittersweet reunion, seen smiling alongside their former cast mates over a life-sized statue of Dumbo in a black-and-white picture.
Bob Saget’s Legacy Remains Strong
Bob Saget Defined Full House
Bob Saget’s legacy has had a lasting impact on Full House, and his participation in Fuller House enshrined his importance to the franchise. As Danny Tanner, Saget played the show’s leading protagonist in an exceptionally large ensemble cast. He starred in numerous shows and movies, including How I Met Your Mother, America’s Funniest Home Videos, and Full House. He was also a stand-up comedian, who remained prevalent in the media long after Full House ended in 1995.
Considering Saget’s history as a comedian, the cast reuniting to celebrate his legacy by smiling over Dumbo was an excellent way to honor the impact that he had on both them and American television. The Full House cast generally takes to Instagram to celebrate his memory every year after his death, proving the tight-knit bond between the cast members. While Full House season 9 never happened, the cast still shares a strong connection that continues to influence them even today, and Saget is still an essential piece of the Full House community.
The Olsen Twins Rarely Reconnect With Their Full House Past
The Twins Have Moved On To Other Ambitions
While Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were also important to Full House‘s legacy, they rarely engage with the show publicly. After rising to stardom as Michelle Tanner, the twins entirely left Hollywood. They went on to run a fashion brand, which proved to be a massive success for the two entrepreneurs. They have also been careful to protect their privacy after growing up in the limelight. Their younger sister, Elizabeth Olsen, has instead taken their place in Hollywood, most notably starring as the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Because of their interest in privacy and unwillingness to move to Los Angeles for filming, the Olsen twins elected to remain out of Fuller House when the sequel was approved. Their character never appeared in the show, as the producers elected not to recast her. John Stamos has admitted that their absence upset him, but the reunion before Saget’s funeral proves that there is still affection between the cast members and the Olsen twins. While they may not have returned, the Full House legacy remains strong.
