Jon Snow’s Ancestor Cregan Stark Cast In House Of The Dragon Season 2
House of the Dragon season 2 finally reveals the casting for Cregan Stark, an ancestor of the beloved Game of Thrones character Jon Snow.
House of the Dragon season 2 casts Tom Taylor as Jon Snow’s ancestor, Cregan Stark. Based on the novel Fire & Blood by George R. R. Martin, the Game of Thrones prequel series will expand its reach in season 2, featuring more areas of the diverse country of Westeros as both parties in the Targaryen civil war seek support from other regions. This expansion will lead to the on-screen introduction of several prominent characters from the novel, some of whom appeared in the recently released House of the Dragon season 2 trailer.
Recently, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that one of the new casting additions for House of the Dragon season 2 is Taylor, who will portray Cregan Stark, a well-known descendant of Games of Thrones character Jon Snow (Kit Harrington). In response, the actor posted a video via Instagram. Check out the video below via @asoiafsource on X (formerly Twitter):

What To Expect From House Stark In House Of The Dragon Season 2
The shocking House of the Dragon season 1 finale saw Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) send both of her sons on journeys to seek support for her claim to the Iron Throne, leading to Lucerys’ (Elliot Grihault) fateful one-way trip to Storm’s End. Jacaerys’ (Harry Collett) trip took him to Winterfell to seek support from House Stark, a moment which teased Cregan’s arrival. While Ned Stark (Sean Bean) was a notable character from the main show as Lord of Winterfell, Cregan serves as Lord of Winterfell during the events of House of the Dragon, which takes place about two centuries before the events of Game of Thrones.
Since Jacaerys was already heading to Winterfell at the end of House of the Dragon season 1, Cregan could likely appear in the first episode of season 2. A distant ancestor of the beloved Game of Thrones Starks and Lyanna Stark’s only son, Jon Snow, Cregan already has an important role in Martin’s novel due to his bond with Jacaerys. The HBO series has offered additional context for many relationships from the novel, so Cregan’s character will likely become even more important in House of the Dragon, especially considering the popularity of the Starks among viewers.
House Stark is well-known for its neutral role in the politics of Westeros due to its remote northern location and general disinterest in the machinations of state affairs, meaning that Jacaerys may face an uphill battle getting Cregan on his side in season 2. This may lead to Jacaerys spending plenty of time in Winterfell as he pleads his case, which may suggest a big role for House Stark in the upcoming war. House of the Dragon season 2 is set for release in summer 2024, so viewers will soon be introduced to Cregan Stark.
