Taylor also dished on his original DAYS character.
After starring on Days of our Lives for over four decades, Josh Taylor is revealing whether his hourglass has run out in Salem.
Too Much Fun
Taylor started on DAYS in 1977, not as the character he’s known for now, but as a bartender named Chris Kositchek, who he originated and played for 10 years. Later, he returned to DAYS in the role of Roman, who he’s portrayed for nearly three decades.
At 81 years old, Taylor has been a part of some major storylines in Salem lately. After Roman left the Salem PD and reunited with Kate (Lauren Koslow), he was recently involved in the Who Shot EJ story after his gun was found at the crime scene. But while Roman finds himself retired and running the Brady Pub, Taylor assured Women’s World there’s “no way” that’s his fate.
“You know, friends from high school keep asking me, ‘Are you going to retire, or what?’” Taylor revealed. “Man, I’m having too much fun. So no, no way!”
Forever In Blue Jeans
Taylor also reminisced with Women’s World about his original DAYS character, who he played from 1977-1987. The actor later reprised his role of Chris for an episode of Beyond Salem in 2022.
Taylor noted he scored the role while wearing blue jeans and a denim shirt to his audition. “Chris Kositchek was the first blue jeans character in daytime soaps. This was back when we were still bringing in and using our own clothing on the show, so when I booked the role, I wore the jeans and shirt,” he explained. “Our wardrobe guy said, ‘Oh no, we want you in a suit,’ and I guess I was too naive to say, ‘Oh yes, of course!’ Instead, I said no because this guy was an engineer who gets out in the shop and works with these guys. Luckily, the producers said, ‘Go for it,’ and our story exploded.”
