Joyce DeWitt Melts Hearts at 76: Still Radiant, Still Janet, Still Loved

Rare ’70s Sitcom Star, 76, Is ‘Still Beautiful’ in New Video

As one-third of the goofy trio on the classic sitcom Three’s Company, Joyce DeWitt — aka Janet — was one of the most recognizable and beloved faces on TV in the ’70s and ’80s. So fans were thrilled to see the actress talk about her iconic role in a recent video, especially since she weighed in on the “will they or won’t they” relationship between Janet and her roommate Jack Tripper (played by the late John Ritter).

In a video shared to TikTok, DeWitt, 76, revealed that while she always knew fans were hoping Janet and Jack’s relationship would take a romantic turn at some point, she didn’t know there was a special term for the potential love interest.

“I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘Why didn’t Jack and Janet get together? But I didn’t know they called us ‘Jacket.’ That’s a new name,” she joked.

Fans in the comments couldn’t get over DeWitt’s youthful looks and energy.

“She looks great,” one exclaimed, while another added, “Still so beautiful.”

“I fell in love with Janet!” one person admitted.

“Janet is forever young in my mind,” another declared.

Just as DeWitt’s fans haven’t forgotten her in the decades since Three’s Company left the air in 1984 after eight successful seasons, she still thinks about the show’s loyal viewers.

In a September 2024 interview with Us Weekly, the actress opened up about the comedy’s appeal to younger fans in particular.

“It was a ‘time out’ from the oppressive, challenging, difficult circumstances they were going through in their young lives,” she explained, adding, “And, by the way, they said the characters did stupid, crazy things that made them laugh. But it was the love, faith, and support that the characters had for each other that made them lifelong fans.”

DeWitt is the last surviving member of the famous “trio,” with Suzanne Somers passing away in October 2023 at age 76 and Ritter passing away in September 2003 at age 54.
