Justin Hartley & Jensen Ackles’ Tracker Becomes an Instant Streaming Hit After Season 3 Premiere

Jensen Ackles’ popularity has soared ever since his starring role in Supernatural. His most recent show, Tracker, has become a streaming sensation following its Season 3 premiere.

Per FlixPatrol, Tracker has been holding on to fifth place on the Paramount+ streaming charts since Oct. 26. Created by Ben H. Winters, the series is based on Jeffery Deaver’s 2019 novel, The Never Game. Per the official synopsis, the series stars Justin Hartley as Colter Shaw, with Ackles appearing as his estranged older brother Russell.

Prepare for a cosmic odyssey as a classic sci-fi adventure finds its way to streaming.

Per the official synopsis, “Tracker follows Colter, a lone-wolf survivalist, who uses his tracking skills to find missing people and collect rewards, often helping private citizens and law enforcement. Driven by his past, he travels the country, solving mysteries while dealing with his fractured family.” Winters previously stated that Season 3 would further examine brothers’ relationship.

“When you get to that scene, the brothers realize — and the audience learns — just how tense and heated things were in that family before their father’s death,” Winters said, referring to the Season 2 finale in which Colter discovers that Otto Waldron (Alex Fernandez) pushed his father to his death, and that his mother, Mary, (Wendy Crewson), asked for his help.

“Russell being older, he has a different, darker memory of it that was shielded from Colter,” he continued. “That’s where a lot of the anger and blame came in.” According to Winters, Season 3 will also explore the different truths each brother holds about the night their father died, and that audiences will finally hear Russell’s side of the story.

An underdog lawyer fights for justice in this gripping adaptation that’s dominating the charts.

A Tracker Spinoff Might Be in The Works

Tracker executive producer Elwood Reid recently stated that a spinoff featuring Russell might be in the works. “I just threw [spinoff hints] in there hoping fans do some work,” he said, referring to Season 3, Episode 1, titled “The Process.” “We just threw in a bunch of teases in these two upcoming episodes. [Jensen and Justin Hartley] are so much fun together, and they complement each other in a weird way.”

“Jensen does not do what Justin does and Justin doesn’t do what Jensen does,” he explained, referencing the differences between the actors. “They’re so interesting together to watch, and then they play off each other in such an interesting way. I will always take Jensen whenever he’s available.” But the project has not been given the green light yet as Ackles has other commitments.

Meanwhile, Season 3 is set to build on the drama seen in the first two episodes. However, it will be without Bobby Exley (Eric Graise) and Velma Bruin (Abby McEnany) who have been written off the show. According to Reid, even though Velma’s character has left to be with Teddi, “that doesn’t mean these people can’t come back” at some point in the series.
