After a rocky start to his venture as a farmer, Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm could be in for a rough harvest, with Kaleb Cooper predicting a ‘difficult’ season ahead
Jeremy Clarkson’s farm could be in for a “difficult” harvest after a wet July, according to his right hand man, Kaleb Cooper.
Following one of the wettest starts to July ever, Kaleb, 26, has expressed concern for Diddly Squat farm’s future. Jeremy hasn’t had an easy start to his venture as a farmer, with the aptly-named Diddly Squat offering him very little in terms of profit. And after the country has been pelted by bad weather for most of the summer so far, farmer Kaleb isn’t feeling too hopeful.
Writing on Instagram, he predicted: “I can sense this being an interesting and difficult season. We really don’t need this rain after the summer we have had.” And his fears look justified, after the Met Office advised flood warnings are in place, forecasting “torrential downpours” for a lot of the UK.
The Met Office outlined potential dangers following the heavy rainfall, warning: “This is likely to lead to localised flooding, slower travel times and a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded. Some of the heavy rain may be accompanied by lightning bringing a further hazard.”
It seems that the former Top Gear host, 64, is broadening his horizons after his tricky time as a farmer, having recently bought a pub. Although it’s not supposed to be opened yet, Clarkson decided to welcome the public to his new property for the Euro 2024 final on Sunday night.
Adorning the pub with England flags, Jeremy had the pints flowing to help England fans through the match, which resulted in an agonising loss for Gareth Southgate’s side against Spain.
Jeremy’s new pub, The Windmill, is set in five acres of countryside in Burford, Oxfordshire, and the Clarkson’s Farm host reportedly bought it for “less than £1 million”.
It’s only a 20 minute drive away from Diddly Squat Farm and is expected to be a hit with tourists. Jeremy, who hosts Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour, uploaded a video to the Hawkstone Instagram account to show off the pub’s impromptu opening, showing him behind the bar pouring pints of his Hawkstone Lager for punters.
