2 Broke Girls star Kat Dennings is returning to broadcast and the multi-camera comedy format as the co-lead opposite Tim Allen in the ABC pilot Shifting Gears (working title). Dennings also will be a producer on the project, from 20th Television.
Written by Mike Scully and Julie Thacker Scully, Shifting Gears centers on Matt (Allen), the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter Riley (Dennings) and her teenage kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.

Dennings’ Riley butted heads with her father growing up and left to marry the boyfriend he hated. Now divorced, Riley’s forced to move back home with two kids, hoping she and her dad can make it work this time.
The Scullys executive produce Shifting Gears with Last Man Standing executive producers Allen, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker and Rick Messina. Dennings is producing.
Known for her starring role in the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, which aired on CBS for six seasons, Dennings recently headlined the Hulu series Dollface, which ran for two seasons.
Dennings also is known for her role as Darcy Lewis in Marvel’s Thor movie franchise, which she also reprised on the studio’s praised Disney+ series WandaVision. She recently signed with Gersh and is also repped by Linden Entertainment and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern LLP.
