Kate Winslet on the ‘minimal’ anti-ageing routine she swears by for a glowing complexion

Kate Winslet is one of the most well-known British actresses, who shot to fame with starring roles in Heavenly Creatures (1994), and Sense and Sensibility (1995).
Perhaps her most memorable on-screen appearance is in the blockbuster movie Titanic (1997), during which Kate was just 22-years-old.

Now 48, the celebrated actress has retained her signature youthful look with a careful yet “fuss-free” approach to skincare and beauty, as she previously revealed to none other than British Vogue.
Speaking previously in an interview, she divulged the details of her “minimal five-minute makeup” which follows a “pretty fast” morning skincare regime.
Kate also hinted at the anti-ageing tricks and tips she has learnt over the years from her makeup artist, Lisa Eldridge

A good night’s sleep

Speaking of her red carpet preparations, Kate revealed to British Vogue that sleep and health “play a big part in looking fresh”, adding that no amount of makeup can fix the look when she’s over-tired or stressed. The 48-year-old said she swears by a good night’s sleep and “water, water, water” to keep the body hydrated.

Short term diets

The Titanic star champions a healthier diet in the “few days running up to” a big red carpet event. She acknowledged that life would be “too dull” without salt and a glass of wine in her diet, but that sticking to water and green smoothies makes all the difference for a “healthier complexion” in her case.

Simple skin care

Before wearing makeup, Kate Winslet swears by a three-minute skincare routine to prep her skin. She said that in the morning, she focuses on “hydrating and fresh” products, which she then uses more of at night; consisting of Tracie Martyn Amla Purifying Cleanser (£81.77 on Amazon), applied with a flat facial sponge, occasional use of the Lancôme Toner Comfort (£55 John Lewis) on her dry skin, then the Advanced Genefique Sensitive (£53.60 at Boots) serum for hydration.

Bold lipstick

The Heavenly Creatures star said she avoids wearing anything “too heavy”, “especially round the eyes where make-up can gather and make a person look older”. Instead, Kate’s go-to cosmetics include black mascara, a smudge of eyeliner on the roots of her lower lashes, and creamy pink or red lipstick – specifically Lancôme Isabella or Lancôme Nuit et Jour.

When it comes to the 48-year-old’s enviable complexion, Kate says she achieves it by sticking to the less-is-more mantra. The mother of two claimed to avoid makeup looks that are “too matt”, so uses very little in the way of powder products.
In Kate’s beauty-focused interview with Vogue, she admitted to preferring “a light base” when it comes to makeup. She often reaches for the Idole Ultra Wear Foundation in shade 01 followed by the Camouflage concealer from the same range.
