Kit Harington Is Finally Making His HBO Return In 2024, But Not As Jon Snow
Kit Harington is undeniably most known for his portrayal of Jon Snow in the HBO series Game of Thrones, and the actor is returning to HBO in 2024.
Kit Harington last played his iconic Game of Thrones character, Jon Snow, during the HBO fantasy drama television show’s series finale in 2019. Although it’s unclear if he will get a chance to reprise the role, the actor’s return to HBO has been confirmed. Of course, given the way that Game of Thrones ended, some hope that Harington will play Jon Snow again to give the character a better ending. Unfortunately, they will have to wait and see if the network (or its streaming service) circles back to Jon Snow and continues his story.
Since the Game of Thrones series finale, Harington has been busy with other projects, seemingly wanting to move on from the backlash resulting from the popular show’s controversial ending. The actor made his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut as Dane Whitman (the Black Knight) in the 2021 film Eternals. There is no word on whether Harington will reprise the role in a future MCU project. But given how Eternals ended and Dane’s history in the comics, it’s only a matter of time before the character resurfaces. Aside from Marvel, Whitman has also appeared in Baby Ruby, Modern Love, and Extrapolations and will star in an upcoming HBO show.
Industry Season 3 Will Mark Kit Harington’s 2024 HBO Return
As seen in HBO’s 2024 YouTube video, Kit Harington is set to star as Henry Muck in Industry season 3. One of the brief clips from the upcoming season shows Harington’s character, the CEO and founder of the green tech energy company Lumi, having a late -night rendezvous with Marisa Abela’s Yasmin Kara-Hanani. An additional scene depicts Henry saying, “I invited you here to seduce you.” So, while many are eager to learn anything about the rumored Jon Snow sequel, they will see Harington make his HBO return as a different character before he ever reprises his Game of Thrones role.
Is HBO’s Jon Snow Sequel Show Still Happening?
Following the conclusion of Game of Thrones in 2019, HBO executives knew they had to continue the popular franchise. A prequel, House of the Dragon, premiered in 2022, and plenty of other spin-off television shows set in George R. R. Martin’s world are in the works, including a possible Jon Snow sequel. However, no updates surrounding the show have come out after the initial reports.
As of the writing of this article, the Jon Snow sequel series is still reportedly in the early stages of development. HBO has yet to greenlight the spin-off, but if the network does, Harington will theoretically reprise his role. But before the actor possibly returns to playing Jon Snow in another Game of Thrones show, Harington can be seen in Industry season 3 on HBO.
