Lainey Wilson Talks Uncertain Future On ‘Yellowstone’
Lainey Wilson has about as much information about the return of Yellowstone as the rest of us.
Speaking with ET at the CMT Music Awards Sunday, Wilson said that she doesn’t have many details about the final installment of the Paramount hit. And while she still hasn’t been tapped to reprise her role, she would be surprised if her character, Abby, doesn’t make some kind of an appearance.
“I’ll be honest with you. I’d be shocked,” the country star told the outlet. “And I think how [series creator] Taylor Sheridan writes his stories, and he just has a beautiful way of bringing things back and letting things go—I’ll be shocked. So, we’ll see what happens.”
Sheridan wrote Abby, an aspiring country music and a love interest to ranch handler Ryan introduced in the first half of season five, specifically for Wilson.
The songstress was surprised to learn that Ian Bohenm, who plays Ryan, told ET that filming would begin next month.
“May or June? Well, that’s news to me,” Wilson said, “Ian, you better call me.”
Wilson previously opened up to ET about her hope to return to the Dutton family drama at the Grammy Awards in February.
“I’m ready for it, I’ll tell you that,” she said. “I’m waiting to see what’s happening. I told Taylor Sheridan, you give me the call and I’ll be there.”
Filming on the second half of Yellowstone’s highly anticipated fifth and final season is reportedly scheduled to begin this spring. It is set to premiere in November 2024—a year after it was originally slated to return. The significant delay is reportedly due to the writers and actors strikes, which put an end to production. There are currently “no plans” for Costner to return for its final chapter.
