Even though Landman was quite good in season 1, we have reason to believe that season 2 will be even better, thanks to a pattern previously set by Yellowstone. The Taylor Sheridan TV show follows Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris, a landman (as the title suggests) and crisis management executive at an oil company in West Texas. Over the course of the series, Tommy, his family, his employees, and many other Landman characters deal with the pressures of a fueling boom, all while a lawyer from out of town arrives to investigate a fatal accident at the rig.
Of course, much more happens by the end of Landman season 1, setting up the show’s second season. Paramount+ technically hasn’t confirmed that Landman season 2 is a go. However, comments from star Demi Moore and the drama’s success all but confirm that the series will continue. Hopefully, season 2 arrives sooner than later because the chances of it exceed expectations are great.
Taylor Sheridan’s TV Shows All Improve In Season 2 On Rotten Tomatoes
The Pattern Began With Yellowstone
Without fail, every TV show created by Taylor Sheridan only gets better with age. Based on Rotten Tomatoes scores, critics always favor the second seasons of Sheridan’s series compared to their debuts, starting with Yellowstone. Season 1 of the Kevin Costner-led neo-Western drama received a 58 percent Tomatometer score, which was bumped up to 89 percent in season 2.
All of Sheridan’s shows after Yellowstone also received higher Rotten Tomatoes scores in their second seasons, including Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, 1923, and Lioness. In fact, Mayor of Kingstown continued improving as its third season acquired a higher score (78 percent) compared to its predecessor. 1883 and Lawmen: Bass Reeves both only had one season. So, they aren’t taken into consideration regarding this peculiar and impressive trend established by Yellowstone.
Why Landman Is Well Positioned To Improve In Season 2
Most Of The World Building Is Done
Aside from Taylor Sheridan’s reputation for producing TV shows that get better in their second seasons, Landman’s upcoming episodes will likely improve upon the previous ones because of what happened in season 1. The first 10 episodes contain a lot of world building and exposition. Consequently, the drama’s set-up is essentially done. Plus, the characters are continuing to develop, and the season 1 finale laid the groundwork for strong storylines (like the aftermath of Monty’s death). Finally, fans have much to be excited about in Landman season 2, especially because it has the chance to learn from season 1’s mistakes.
