Hit Netflix romance Virgin River recently had a huge update regarding the highly anticipated sixth season, and Alexandra Breckenridge has weighed in on the news.
Virgin River’s Alexandra Breckenridge has weighed in on the Netflix show’s exciting season six news with an intriguing update of her own.
The streaming platform’s CEO Ted Sarandos recently confirmed the upcoming instalment would be coming to screens by the end of this year.
It was previously believed that the series wouldn’t be returning until 2025, so fans were thrilled to learn they don’t have too long to wait before Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra) and Jack Sheridan’s (Martin Henderson) story continues.
While an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, an announcement could be coming sooner than later.
Alexandra has since revealed that the day and date of Virgin River’s premiere has been set, just not announced, so the news every fan has been waiting for could be just around the corner.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, she spoke to fans: “I’m curious. I know it was announced that season six will be airing this year in 2024, whereas previously we thought it wasn’t going to air in 2025.
“What month do you think it’s going to air?”
After reiterating the announcement from Netflix’s head honcho, the Virgin River lead then promised fans they’ll “enjoy” season six “a lot”.
“Well thanks for all the guesses on when Virgin River season six will be coming out,” she went on.
Alexandra then thrillingly added: “I totally know what date it is. I can’t tell you though.
“It’s going to be a great season. I think you’re all going to enjoy it a lot. I hope you enjoy it.”
There will be plenty more light-hearted drama and swoon-worthy moments to come, although the actress revealed filming this season was a little more “intense” than usual.
“Not necessarily the content so much,” she explained. “I think just the filming.
“We were on location a lot,” she added cryptically. “What does that mean? We don’t know.”
Netflix’s CEO Sarandos also confirmed new seasons of The Diplomat, Squid Game, The Lincoln Lawyer, Selling Sunset and more would all be hitting screens before 2025.
