Special agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs is back! Actor Mark Harmon is returning to the “NCIS” franchise where he spent 18 seasons.
Harmon will reprise the iconic TV character he last played in 2021 on the hit CBS drama during the first crossover event between “NCIS” and “NCIS: Origins” on Tuesday, November 11.
The episodes will air back-to-back on Veterans Day and, according to CBS, will first have “Origins” showing a young Leroy, played by Austin Stowell, and his team investigating the small-town death of a naval officer in the 1990s.
Following that on “NCIS,” the case will be unexpectedly re-opened in present times.
Even though Harmon may have left his on-screen role a few years ago, he serves as an executive producer on both series and narrates each episode of “Origins.”
“Four years ago, Gibbs disappeared to Alaska to live a life of solitude,” said co-showrunners and executive producers David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal. “We know how much fans have missed seeing Mark and have wondered what Gibbs is up to today. We don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say Gibbs is no longer alone.”
“NCIS: Origins” airs at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by “NCIS” at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
