Dr Shaun Murphy (played by Freddie Highmore) has been through a lot since he first joined the team at St Bonaventure Hospital in 2017 and now the ABC medical drama is almost over.
There are just a handful of episodes left to air, including this week’s eighth instalment, The Overview Effect, which comes out on Tuesday, May 7.
As always, there are some guest stars joining the cast to bring new sub-plots to life, including actress Lorena Bernal, although it isn’t clear what her role is going to be.
Who is The Good Doctor guest star Lorena Bernal?
The Good Doctor cast will be joined by Argentine-Spanish actress Lorena Bernal in The Overview Effect as an unnamed character.
The synopsis does talk of a young patient’s parents having to make an “important medical decision” on his behalf so the 42-year-old may be behind his mum.
Bernal worked as a model from the age of seven and was Miss Spain in 1999 when she was 17 years old.
She wasn’t able to represent her country in Miss Universe as she was too young so competed in Miss World instead where she was one of 10 finalists.
She began her acting career working on a number of hit Spanish shows including Paraiso and her biggest hit, Luna Negra as Lucia Quintana, before other projects like Chuck, The Deal and CSI: Miami.
But internationally, the star is best known as the wife of the current Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta.
It isn’t clear how Bernal first met Arteta who took over from Arsene Wengerin 2018, but they crossed paths sometime in 2002.
Reportedly, the model and actress didn’t know the 42-year-old was a footballer during their initial meeting.
The pair dated for six years before getting married in Mallorca, Spain, in 2010.
Fast-forward to 2024 and Arteta and Bernal have three sons together, Gabriel, Daniel and Oliver.
She took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes photos of herself with members of The Good Doctor cast.
