Luke Thompson and Yerin Ha on the importance of intimacy coordinator on Bridgerton

Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton in Bridgerton Season 4, opened up about the importance of an intimacy coordinator in a segment posted by Entertainment Tonight. In the clip attracting attention on X, Thompson says that an intimacy coordinator is important on a shoot for more than just filming sex scenes.

“I don’t understand the argument that intimacy coordinators sort of ruin some kind of spontaneity,” Thompson said in the clip, “I think it’s the opposite, I think they facilitate it because they give you the framework and they give you the triangulation…that there is a security.”

He continued, “Obviously, if people really really trust each other and they wanna, then fine. But it’s really important to have the option. Cause that’s what feels good. Doesn’t necessarily look good.” He further elaborated, “It’s true not just for sex scenes. You know you need an outside eye.”

He went on to add that directors can sometimes be awkward about it. Thus, it is left only to the stars to navigate the whole territory alone. He also added that the sex scenes in Bridgerton were essential story beats, which further required the assistance of a professional.

Throughout this, Yerin Ha seemed to nod and agree with the points that Thompson made about intimacy coordinators.

The pair lead the line in Bridgerton Season 4. The first four episodes of the season are now streaming on Netflix. The second half of the series will arrive on February 26, 2026.
