NBC finally announced premiere dates for ‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Chicago Fire’ and ‘Chicago PD.’
The trio of One Chicago shows—Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med—were finally given a premiere date on NBC, and fans immediately clocked that they’d have to wait much longer than previously anticipated for new episodes.
NBC released its fall premiere dates, revealing that the One Chicago dramas would return on Wednesday, Oct. 1. Chicago Med will kick off the evening with its 11th season, followed by Chicago Fire Season 14’s premiere and wrapping up with Chicago PD Season 13.
Of course, longtime fans know that the shows typically premiere toward the middle or end of September. Last year, all three shows returned on Sept. 25.
There was only one instance when the shows premiered in November, but it was out of NBC’s hands due to the COVID pandemic, which prevented production from returning in the summer.
The good news is that production on the shows is currently in full swing, so it’s unclear why the premieres have been set for October, though most of ABC’s shows have shifted to slightly delayed premieres across the board, possibly accommodating slightly shorter episode counts.
Fans took to the comments to voice their thoughts, with many sharing their concerns that the wait is simply too long.
“October?!?! I thought at least late September…so far away 😞,” one wrote, as another noted, “Nooo too far away…I need an answer on the Hannah baby mama drama now!!”
“Wait what i thought all three Chicago shows come back on October i thought it was in September,” someone else chimed in.
Others didn’t seem to mind, with comments like “Finallyyyy,” “I’ll start my countdown!” and “yay!! can’t come fast enough!!”
“Whoopee! Marking my calendar 💚❤️💙!” one comment stated, with others calling it their “favorite night of the week!!”
It’s safe to say that the wait will likely be worth it—and there’s no better way to kick off the fall season than with a pumpkin spice latte and new episodes of your feel-good shows.
