First 100 attendees will get rose from Detroit native, former U of M linebacker Mel Owens
DETROIT – Mel Owens, the star of season 2 of the dating reality show, “The Golden Bachelor,” will be in Detroit for a meet-and-greet on Tuesday.
The event is scheduled to happen from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at the Born in Detroit store at 1275 Woodward Avenue to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
During the fundraising event, fans will have the chance to meet Owens, a Detroit native and former University of Michigan linebacker.
Owens will personally present the first 100 donors with a rose, just like he does on the show.
To participate in the event, attendees can choose between two contribution levels.

The $50 donation level includes a meet-and-greet with Owens, a photo opportunity and a limited-edition cobranded Born in Detroit event T-shirt. Attendees can choose from a pink T-shirt in women’s sizes, or a black one that comes in unisex sizes. They will be ordered at the event and delivered to participants’ homes.
The $100 donation level also includes the meet-and-greet and photo opportunity, but instead of a T-shirt, it comes with a sweatshirt, which will be ordered at the event and then delivered to your home. The sweatshirts are black and come in unisex sizes.
If you are unable to attend the event, you can still support the American Cancer Society and purchase a t-shirt or sweatshirt online until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the event and the online orders will benefit the American Cancer Society.
