Bridgerton is renewed for Seasons 5 and 6. Season 4, focusing on Benedict Bridgerton, premieres in 2026 with new characters and showrunner Jess Brownell leading the series.
Officially, Bridgerton has been renewed for two more seasons on Netflix. Seasons 5 and 6 of the period romance series, which Chris Van Dusen created and which Shondaland produces, will continue the show’s successful run that began in 2020. Fans won’t be able to see Season 4, which centers on the love story of the titular family’s second son, Benedict, until 2026.
Benedict Bridgerton’s story takes centerstage
With Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) taking centerstage in Season 4, the story will take a dramatic turn. Benedict, who is known for his artistic bent and carefree personality, is hesitant to settle down at first, just like his siblings. A chance meeting with an enigmatic woman, referred to as the “Lady in Silver” during a masquerade party that his mother, Lady Violet Bridgerton, was hosting, causes him to reevaluate his viewpoint. Yerin Ha will portray the part of Sophie Baek, the woman behind the mask.
Returning cast members and fan favorites
Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruth Gemmell, and Jonathan Bailey will all be returning for the following season, playing their characters Anthony Bridgerton, Kate Bridgerton, Colin Bridgerton, Penelope Bridgerton, and Eloise and Violet Bridgerton, respectively. Julie Andrews, who reprises her voice role as the mysterious Lady Whistledown, joins additional characters as Hannah Dodd, Victor Alli, Masali Baduza, Daniel Francis, Queen Charlotte, and Lord Marcus Anderson, respectively.
Season 4 introduces new characters such as Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao), Posy Li (Isabella Wei [Emmanuelle), and Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung [T2 Trainspotting]).
Bridgerton’s continued popularity and global success
Ever since its premiere, Bridgerton has been one of Netflix’s highest-grossing original series. The streamer’s all-time Most Popular list now ranks Season 1 at No. 5 and Season 3 at No. 7, respectively. The prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story added to the franchise’s global success and broadened its appeal.
Season 4 sees Jess Brownell continuing in the role of showrunner, succeeding Van Dusen. Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Van Dusen himself all remain as executive producers.
Season 4 will see the unfolding of Benedict’s arc, and with two additional seasons already approved, the Bridgerton universe is going to explode in the years to come.
