While Fire Country fights its Season 4 infernos, CBS is stoking excitement with a brand-new spin-off: Sheriff Country, starring Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox, a county sheriff balancing law enforcement with messy family ties—and plenty of crossovers with Bode’s world.
Baccarin, best known for Homeland and Deadpool, calls Mickey “the most layered character I’ve ever played.” The role demands both grit and vulnerability as Mickey patrols fire-prone California terrain where the line between civil duty and personal survival blurs daily.
To prepare, Baccarin trained with real sheriffs and firearms instructors, posting a teasing Instagram photo captioned “Mickey’s coming.” Fans flooded the comments with speculation about which Fire Country characters might appear. Producers confirm that Bode, Gabriela, and even a few surprise guests are written into early scripts to create a “shared universe” that will reward loyal viewers.
“Sheriff Country lets us tell stories of justice and redemption from a different angle,” says executive producer Phelan. “But it’s still about people who run toward danger when everyone else runs away.”
