It’s been more than 20 years since the groundbreaking sitcom about life at a historically Black college aired its last episode. Now the cast of A Different World is back for a long-anticipated reunion on Oprah: Where Are They Now?
The cast reminisced about how their show helped inspire a generation of young people while making them laugh and learn something new.
“You get a flood of people saying I wouldn’t have gone to a university if it wasn’t for your show,” said Cree Summer, who played Winifred “Freddie” Brooks.
“That’s just the genius of Dr. Cosby,” added Jasmine Guy, who played southern belle Whitley Gilbert. “He understood the power of the medium and so, he showed a setting that would influence people as well as make them laugh.”
