The future of NCIS has been confirmed – and it’s good news for fans.
Season 22 of the procedural drama premiered last October and, according to Variety, there’s even more action on the horizon. The long-running series has reportedly been renewed for yet another season by broadcaster CBS.
The positive news continues as spin-off shows NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney have also been given the greenlight for renewal.
Prequel series NCIS: Origins is set in 1991 and focuses on a young version of Mark Harmon’s character Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Austin Stowell). The show kicked off in 2024 and is now set to receive a second season.
Australian-based NCIS: Sydney is the franchise’s first international spin-off and follows Special Agent Michelle Mackey (played by Olivia Swann) as she works with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on cases involving Americans abroad. The series began in 2023 and will be back for a third instalment.
Elsewhere, CBS has renewed the US version of the sitcom Ghosts for a fifth and sixth season, which will run across 2026-2027. Justin Hartley’s Tracker has been renewed for season three, while drama series Fire Country will receive a fourth season. Revival game show Hollywood Squares will also be back for season two.
Meanwhile, Young Sheldon spin-off Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage will continue with a second season, alongside The Good Wife spin-off Elsbeth, which has been renewed for season three on the network.
“This season, our new and returning series continue to showcase CBS as the leader in launching and programming the biggest hits with mass appeal for broadcast and streaming viewers,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment.
“These returning shows represent a mix of long-standing hits and a new generation of fan favorites. In collaboration with our extraordinarily talented partners in front of and behind the camera, we look forward to delivering another successful season.”
