As usual, CBS is likely to opt for stability when building its schedule for the 2025-2026 season, and its early series renewals seem to confirm this trend. In recent days, the American network has confirmed that eight of its current series will return next year, in addition to Matlock and FBI, which have already been renewed.
Among those returning to CBS is NCIS, one of the network’s flagship shows for more than 20 years. In the 2025-2026 season, the series, starring Sean Murray, Brian Dietzen and Rocky Carroll, will begin its 23rd season. NCIS will be accompanied by two of its spin-offs: NCIS: Sydney (Season 3) and NCIS: Origins (Season 2). The series about the youth of Leroy Jethro Gibbs will not be the only new show to return for a second season, as CBS has confirmed that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the Young Sheldon spin-off, will also return next year.
Meanwhile, Tracker, one of the most watched series in the US, has been picked up for a third season, as has Elsbeth, the spin-off of The Good Wife and The Good Fight. Fire County will begin its fourth season in 2025-2026, while Ghosts, one of CBS’ flagship comedies, has been renewed for two more seasons (Seasons 5 and 6). The series, starring Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar, is now guaranteed to be on air until 2027.
The fate of The Equalizer, FBI: International, FBI: Most Wanted, The Neighborhood, Poppa’s House, S.W.A.T. and Watson have yet to be decided, but some are unlikely to return next season, while CBS has a number of series in development.
