NCIS’ Knight Could Have A “Kill Bill” Vengeance Arc In Her Future

NCIS season 23 is teasing some major developments for Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), which could be laying the groundwork for a dark redemption arc akin to the Kill Bill franchise. Throughout NCIS’ history, there have been some tremendously dark storylines the show and its spin-offs have been willing to tell. Knight, for the most part, hasn’t been part of them thus far.

With spoilers coming out about the upcoming NCIS season 23, many have been speculating about what will happen with the current MCRT, as well as its leader Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole). As many have been hopeful to see more of Parker’s backstory, one of the biggest storylines of the season appears to be something the series has been gearing up for.

While Parker is going to be moving through a new chapter of his story, things may be shifting for Knight after NCIS executive producer Steven D. Binder shared more about what’s to come for her. With Knight being tapped to join NCIS Elite, the same specialized task force overseen by NCIS: LA’s Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), her future could be shifting.

The NCIS Elite Squad Has A Tragic Recent History

Franchise Viewers Know The Squad’s History

According to TV Insider, Knight’s future may be shaping up to carry some serious emotional baggage with her addition to NCIS Elite. While the unit may sound like an exciting promotion, longtime viewers know that the Elite’s history is anything but glamorous. The team, previously featured on NCIS: Hawai’i, suffered a devastating ambush during the series finale that left most members dead.

While it’s a great opportunity, Knight’s appointment to NCIS Elite is bittersweet in the context of the tragedy that took down her predecessors. Though Knight has earned the promotion, knowing she’s stepping into a squad that’s haunted by massive loss is tough. It’s clear that even the most skilled agents aren’t necessarily safe as part of the Elite unit, no matter how talented.

Although Knight being promoted has a great potential payoff, her connection to Elite could position her for a vengeance arc for the books. Knight could be looking to take on whoever is responsible for the team’s downfall, which would lead to a clash of epic proportions. While Binder teased Knight’s future, he did share that outside factors may make seeing it on screen difficult.

Binder was making it clear that thought Knight has been appointed to NCIS Elite, contracts, scheduling conflicts, and things outside of his control could make crossovers more difficult than expected. Even so, the possibility of Knight delving into a vengeance arc could be a massive twist that viewers don’t see coming. NCIS could lay the groundwork for Knight’s future on the series.
