With Season 13 of “NCIS: Los Angeles” wrapping up, fans are left with lingering questions about Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) covert operations and the persistent threat posed by Kessler (Frank Military). Executive producer R. Scott Gemmill sheds light on what’s ahead for the show and how these storylines will unfold.
Hetty’s Mission in Syria
The season finale left viewers wondering about Hetty’s mysterious mission in Syria and her interactions with Callen (Chris O’Donnell). Gemmill confirmed that the storyline will continue to develop. “We started to explore the tension between Callen and Hetty as he uncovers more about his past and her secretive actions,” Gemmill said. Hetty’s return to Syria is partly to resolve her operation but also, perhaps, to avoid a difficult conversation with Callen. “It’s not going to be an easy discussion. However, we’ll eventually understand Hetty’s motivations and the circumstances that led to her actions.”
Connections to Past Characters
Fans might see familiar faces from previous seasons in connection with Hetty’s mission. “There are definitely elements from the past that will resurface,” Gemmill teased. “We’ll learn more about Hetty’s operations and the people involved, including some characters we haven’t seen for a while.”
Gerald McRaney’s Kilbride
Gerald McRaney’s portrayal of Kilbride has been a fan favorite, and Gemmill affirmed that Kilbride will continue to play a significant role. “Kilbride is absolutely staying on the show. He’s been a fantastic addition, and we’re thrilled to keep him around. His chemistry with the team and his professionalism are invaluable.”
The Kessler Threat
As Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) embrace their new roles as parents, the threat from Kessler remains a major concern. Gemmill assured fans that this storyline will be resolved in the upcoming season. “We know that Kessler’s threat has been looming, and it will definitely be addressed. We don’t want to leave this unresolved, especially with Kensi and Deeks now being parents. It’s crucial for us to bring closure to this storyline.”
Looking Ahead
Gemmill emphasized that while certain storylines like Kessler’s will be resolved, others will continue to evolve. “We like to let stories simmer and develop over time, but we’re committed to bringing them to a satisfying conclusion. Whether it’s Kessler, Katya, or other ongoing conflicts, we’ll make sure to address them properly.”
As “NCIS: Los Angeles” continues to weave intricate plots and character arcs, fans can look forward to seeing how these storylines unfold and reach their resolutions in Season 14.
