Season 14’s final episode of NCIS: Los Angeles wrapped the stories of Marty Deeks, Kensi Blye and co in a rather heartwarming fashion.
CBS drama NCIS Los Angeles is officially over with season 14 wrapping up on Sunday, May 21.
The final ever episode had a number of surprises up its sleeve, with the stage set for Callen (played by Chris O’Donnell) and Anna’s (Bar Paly) wedding day as well as the prospect of Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) hotly-anticipated return.
Callen and Anna did get to say “I do” in an impromptu yet still adorable city hall wedding while fans did get to hear from Hetty via a letter rather than Hunt appearing on-screen.
But the surprises then came thick and fast as Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith) made a surprise comeback after her season 10 exit to offer Callen and Sam (LL Cool J) the mission to find Hetty after she’d landed herself in trouble in Morocco.
However, arguably the biggest – and most tearjerking – surprise of the episode came from Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) as the duo finally discovered they were expecting a baby together
Their journey to parenthood had been plagued with obstacle after obstacle but joined by foster daughter Rosa (Natalia Del Riego), the trio shared a tearful embrace when Kensi discovered she was pregnant.
With the episode ended on such a high, combined with the tantalising prospect of Callen and Sam still working together in Northern Africa – spin-off perhaps? – it was inevitable fans would be left reaching for the tissues.
Taking to Twitter during the episode, a number of fans shared their thoughts on the finale, including @pierce_angelus who said: “I love how much Callen has grown and how much he’s changed in the course of 14 seasons #NCISLA he was the biggest reason I started watching and continued to watch.
“It makes me sad to think I won’t get any more new episodes but I’m so happy I got 14 great years. Thank you @NCISLA.”
