On NCIS: Los Angeles, actor Eric Christian Olsen’s character Marty Deeks is known for his jokester personality and his sweet relationship with Kensi (played by his actual sister-in-law, Daniela Ruah). He applies his good-natured sense of humor to his real life, too, at home with his wife, actress Sarah Wright Olsen.
The couple have shown off their lighthearted love on both social media and reality TV. In November, Eric, 41, signed a deal with CBS to executive produce two shows, a comedy as well as a medical drama about trauma nurses. In congratulating him on Instagram, Sarah, 35, quipped, “So this is where you have been? …. I was convinced you took up pottery or you were chasing your bowling league dreams.”
The couple also appeared together on the Steve Harvey Show where they played “Happily Ever After” and answered questions about their life together. They agreed on every topic except one—their son’s first words. Eric claimed little Wyatt (born in 2013), said “Da Da.” The audience laughed as Sarah claimed those were “mere noises” their son often made and contended his first words were “Duck Duck.”
Despite their sense of humor, the couple is also very serious about their love for each other. After their second child, daughter Esmé, was born in 2016, Eric posted on Instagram how he admired his wife’s strength: “I am in awe of this woman; somehow navigating the most difficult moments with equal parts passion, fearlessness, and all encompassing love. I suspect she may be magic.”
The couple have been navigating life together since 2006 when they met on the set of the Fox sitcom, The Loop. Sarah went on to have roles as Millicent Gergich on NBC’s Parks and Recreation, and play opposite Tom Cruise in American Made. Eric is now in his 10th season of NCIS: LA.
Eric and Sarah dated for five years before getting engaged in Mexico in 2011. They married in 2012 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, according to People.
They returned to Jackson Hole in 2015 to purchase a vacation home and appeared on an episode of HGTV’s House Hunters. They modestly referred to themselves as “Hollywood actors” and joked about needing a dual-sink vanity to accommodate the other’s mess. By the end of the episode, the couple settled on a house alongside a golf course.
Sarah and Eric’s thriving careers will keep them off the golf greens in the coming months, though. In addition to his role on NCIS: LA, Eric is executive producing two new CBS shows, producing a CBS drama, “First Lady,” and a Hulu action-comedy, “Woke.” In late 2018, Sarah launched, Bāeo Baby, a line of organic skin care.
Despite their jam-packed schedule, Sarah has commended Eric for always having time to put his family first. “I am completely in awe of what you do, how you do it and how you make so much time for us it never feels like you are away,” she wrote on Instagram.
