NCIS LOS ANGELES’ key members of the team handed in their resignation in the latest episode. But could the series also lose Deeks and Kensi?
Since the midseason finale, there have been more serious talks between newlyweds Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah) and husband Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) about having a baby together. The couple is gradually becoming more committed to the idea of starting a family in NCIS LA which would make it the show’s first-ever baby. But could this mean the beginning of the end for Deeks and Kensi on the CBS drama?
In the latest instalment of NCIS LA entitled Fortune Favors the Brave, Nell Jones (Renée Felice Smith) told friend and colleague Kensi she no longer looked forward to coming to work.
Following the recent stress with boyfriend Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) who disappeared for a secret mission, it’s no surprise things are now awkward between the pair.
Despite her concerns, Nell continued to work hard during the most recent investigation into the murder of an Iranian exile.
However, by the end of the episode, it was clear this feeling wasn’t going to go away.Nell asked to have a word with Operations Manager Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt) and told her that she wishes to hand in her resignation.
Luckily, Hetty refused to accept her resignation for the time being and said she should take some time off before making the decision.
But whether or not time away from the office will persuade Nell to stay remains unclear.
The show could also see two other fan-favourites leave the series.
Will Deeks and Kensi leave NCIS Los Angeles to start a family?
Since season 11’s Answers, Deeks and Kensi have been opening up about trying for a baby.
At first, Kensi was reluctant about the idea but she began to change her mind before the Christmas break so the couple is taking their future as parents a lot more seriously.
However, while it is good news that Deeks and Kensi want to commit to starting a family, it could also mean they will leave the series.
But actor Olsen has reassured fans saying it most likely isn’t going to happen any time in the near future.Speaking to Parade, Olsen said: “There’s a great line that says, ‘You want to know how to make God laugh? You tell him your plans,’”.
“You tell him your plans, which is, ‘Oh, all right, we’re going to do this next thing,’ and of course, nothing goes to plan.
“They don’t even have a strong blueprint of what love looks like.
“So what I love the most about those two characters is they really are deeply flawed people just stumbling forward, trying to do the best they can for the people that they love, and this is a great example of that, which is a very honest conversation about what this next step would look like.”He also talked about how it would be completely up to Kensi to make the decision when they were ready to have a baby.
Olsen continued: “I think that Deeks loves her enough to know that he can’t change her, and what she does is so deeply embedded in who she is.
“I think that there’s an interesting recognition from Deeks that says, ‘If I take that from her or I ask that chapter to end, I think she loses a big piece of herself.’
“So, she’s got to have ownership of that decision.”
