CBS TV Studios is deepening its relationship with “NCIS: Los Angeles” star Eric Christian Olsen, signing the actor to a first-look deal under his Cloud Nine Productions banner.
Olsen has already sold a pair of projects to CBS: A medical drama “Nurses,” based on the Finnish series “Syke,” and multi-camera comedy “Life Lessons,” based on a Canadian digital series, under his Cloud Nine Productions banner.
“Nurses” is based on the 2014 Finnish series and centers around four trauma center nurses charged with everything from triage to surgery who must balance life and death stakes on the job with the drama of their complicated lives outside the hospital. “Syke” was the most watched series in the history of Yle Areena, the national broadcaster’s online streaming service. It was also adapted in Sweden in 2016.
The project is penned by “NCIS: New Orleans” alum Cathrun Humphris, who would executive produce with Olsen and Kate Schumaecker.
“Life Lessons” is based on the Canadian digital series “Kids On” from Dave Keystone and Nolan Sarner. It’s about a guy who is a professional failure at life and finds advice and friendship in the most unlikely of places… a class of first graders. Mark Gross will write the script, with Olsen and Schumaecker executive producing.
Olsen portrays Detective Marty Deeks on “NCIS: Los Angeles,” which just started its 10th season.
