NCIS: Los Angeles star Daniela Ruah has weighed in on the speculation that series regular Eric Christian Olsen is exiting the show.
The actor, who plays Kensi Blye on the popular crime drama, dismissed rumours that Olsen’s days as Kensi’s onscreen husband Marty Deeks are numbered following the events of the latest episode, which saw Deeks and Blye learn that Deeks’ job as a liaison between the LAPD and NCIS has been terminated.
“Listen, if Eric were leaving the show permanently, we would know about that by now, and that’s obviously not the case,” Ruah recently told TV Line. “So, somewhere and somehow, things happen that change the course of where the story is going.”
Elsewhere, Ruah opened up about her latest storyline, which saw Kensi’s life threatened after she was summoned to get intel about a fellow escaped con from old enemy David Kessler (Frank Military).
With savvy killer Kessler now set on killing Kensi too, Ruah admitted that the overhanging threat from Kessler will be “a ticking time bomb” over the show.
“That seed has been planted, and it’s going to blow up in your face when you least expect it,” she added. “Deeks seems to be a lot more concerned than she is, but it’s always like that.”
She continued: “Listen, when my mom would fly to come see me before all this quarantine stuff, I would be a lot more concerned about her flying over here than when I’m the one flying over there.
“When it’s not you and you’re not seeing through your own eyes, it always feels a lot bigger and worse than it is.”
