‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Stars Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen Are Related

Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen play Kensi Blye and Marty Deeks of the NCIS: Los Angeles power couple known as Densi. But when the cameras aren’t rolling, the pair still share a special relationship: Daniela is actually Eric’s sister-in-law!

Daniela tied the knot with Eric’s older brother, David Paul Olsen, in 2014. Eric had a big hand in setting the two up, as David is actually Eric’s stunt double on the CBS series.

“When they got together, because he came on to do stunts, I would say something nice about her to him and then say something to him about her,” he said on The Queen Latifah Show in 2014. “That was enough to kinda get them started in conversation and it became this wonderful relationship.”

Before Daniela and David were married, they welcomed their first son together, River. Their second child, daughter Sierra, was born in 2016, according to People. Which means Eric is Daniela’s kids’ uncle. His children with wife Sarah Wright, Esme and Wyatt, are cousins to River and Sierra.

So, not only are Daniela, Eric, and David co-workers, but they’re family, too. For the holidays, the group took an “epic cross country ski and hike” trip together, according to Sarah’s Instagram. According to Daniela, the on-screen romance with her brother-in-law doesn’t seem to be that weird—though it wasn’t always that way.

“The first time we read that there was a kiss in the script, we were, ‘Okay, not sure either one of us would plan this,’ but for one, these characters were bantering and flirting even before I met my husband,” she told Parade.

She continued, “I think if Eric and I would say, ‘We’re not doing these things because we’re related,’ it would do a huge disservice to the show and to the fans. That’s what the main objective is: To have people stay engaged in the show and love the development of these characters.”
