The NCIS: LA actress shared that her pup sadly passed away of a fatal illness in an emotional montage video posted to Instagram on Jan. 25.

Set to the melodic instrumental tune of “Save Me” by musical cover artist Piano Peace, the collection of stringed-together photos captured several images and recorded moments of the departed dog, both by himself and with his humans.

“Our heart is broken. Last night we said goodbye to our Ash,” Ruah opened the caption of the tearful social media message. She continued, noting that the canine friend joined them over a decade ago.

“Dave surprised me with him almost 11 years ago, before River was even born… In the last few months As [sic] developed

Degenerative Myelopathy, something incurable that was breaking down his ability to move. by our side wherever we went. A true german shepherd in nature, all he wanted was to be next to us. To protect us, to sit with us and fall asleep in the kids room where he kept an eye on them all night long, ” the actress wrote

Several followers sent heartfelt condolences to the doggy mama in the comments, as costar LL Cool J’s wife Simone Smith chimed in with, “Sorry for your loss 🙏🏽”

“Today as I walked into the garage to feed Roxy and Ice, I saw Ash’s bowl. But no Ash looking up at me waiting for his “num nums” and green beans. I miss him. We miss him. Our Ash. We love you even now. 💔 2012-2023,” Ruah concluded the lengthy farewell note.

It was recently publicized that NCIS: LA would be ending after its 14th season, where she has portrayed the role of Kensi Blye since the series premiered in 2009.

Ruah shared a reaction to the news in a Jan. 21 social media post addressed to fans, uploading images of her character and saying she had “many feelings to process and many words to say” as a result of the show’s non-continuation.

“From season one to season 14, from 24 yrs old to 39, it has been an absolute dream,” she wrote in the caption, thanking viewers with, “I’m so so grateful to have been a part of this NCISLA family. The show lasted this long because of all of you.”

The news of the drama’s closure was announced on Friday (Jan. 20) by the president of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach.

“It’s no surprise this show succeeded as a global franchise,” she said in the statement, before adding, “We are so grateful for the collaboration and remarkable run of these treasured members of our CBS family, and plan to give them the big sendoff they and their fans deserve it.”
