Daniela Ruah is enjoying some well-deserved relaxation in the sun following a hectic time working with her NCIS collaborators.
In the first of two photos included in a Friday, April 19 Instagram post, the NCIS: Los Angeles star appeared in a selfie on a sandy beach, although she didn’t identify where the photo was taken. Ruah, 40, wore her hair in a messy bun or ponytail as she stretched out on a blue-and-white striped towel. She protected her eyes from the sun’s glare with aviator sunglasses.
Small waves crashed onto the beach as a body of blue water stretched out behind Ruah. The sky above her was a brilliant blue, with just a few small, puffy white clouds visible overhead.
The post’s second photo showed drawings divided into four panels that depicted parts of a recent NCIS: Hawaii scene. Ruah seemingly made the drawings with gray, green and brown colored pencils. Red pencil markings were added on top to illustrate movement. Brief descriptions below the panels explained what was happening in each drawing.
“I love drawing, always have… it calms my brain,” the actress wrote in her Instagram caption, adding that the activity also “helps me figure out action sequences.” While a series of events can “change a little on the day they’re shot,” she explained that “this moment turned out pretty close in the final cut of ncis hawaii S3E7 see if you can spot the moments 😜.”
Ruah, who played NCIS Special Agent Kensi Blye on all 14 seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles, directed the NCIS: Hawaii episode she mentioned in her caption. She recently spoke with Parade about directing that installment of the CBS police procedural, titled “The Next Thousand,” and appearing on the 1,000th episode of NCIS.
The two episodes aired on the same night earlier this week, marking a major event for the NCIS universe.
