NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen has called for his character to return for the crime franchise’s upcoming spin-off show.
The actor played Marty Deeks in all 14 seasons of the CBS crime drama before its cancellation this year, with the character progressing from an LAPD Detective to an NCIS Investigator over the course of the series.
Whilst Los Angeles has now been placed on the backburner, fans can still get their fix of police procedurals with the upcoming spin-off NCIS: Sydney, and Olsen has called for Marty to appear in the new Australian-set show.
The actor noted that “Deeks loves surfing and Oz has great waves……”, teasing that his character could potentially find himself a new home within the NCIS world.
The logline for NCIS: Sydney, which will premiere in November, reads: “With rising international tensions in the Indo-Pacific, a brilliant and eclectic team of US NCIS agents and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) are grafted into a multinational taskforce to keep naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet.”
The cast for the series includes Olivia Swann (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Todd Lasance (Home and Away), Sean Sagar (Fate: The Winx Saga), Tuuli Narkle (Mystery Road: Origin), Mavournee Hazel (Neighbours) and William McInnes (The Newsreader), with the series being created by Morgan O’Neill.
Upon the announcement of the series, CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach teased that the show would have a “uniquely Australian twist”, adding: “This fascinating world has been a proven winner with viewers on both linear and streaming platforms.
“Featuring the stunning backdrop of Australia, the new series will incorporate the high-stakes intrigue, humour and camaraderie that have kept fans captivated by the NCIS teams for over two decades,” she added.
