NCIS star Michael Weatherly has asked fans for their input on a possible spin-off.
Taking to Twitter/X, the former star of the beloved procedural posted a picture where he stands alongside actor Cote de Pablo, who plays Ziva David on the show.
Weatherly, who portrayed Tony DiNozzo until the season 13 finale and recently returned in a special episode of season 21 dedicated to late NCIS star David McCallum, who played Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard.
In the snap posted on his social platform, Weatherly teased a spin-off on the way with de Pablo, asking fans what they would call this series, should it become a reality.
“Getting ready to announce the Title of our new show… NCIS: Something … I’d love to hear what you think it might be…,” he wrote, putting it out to NCIS viewers to find the perfect name.
“NCIS: WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR 8 YEARS!” one fan suggested, to which the actor replied “Too long”
It seems that Weatherly’s favourite was NCIS: Beyond, as he revealed it was the preferred suggestion of his daughters too.
Elsewhere in the NCIS universe, a spin-off was abruptly given the axe after two seasons.
NCIS: Hawai’i won’t be returning for round four after the current season three, with star Vanessa Lachey admitting feeling “blindsided” by the decision at CBS, which airs the show in the US
“Gutted, confused, blindsided,” she wrote on her Instagram Story after the cancellation was announced. “Grateful, confident, beloved fans.”
“Processing this news and still being present with my family,” she added, before signing off: “I love you all! Mahalo Nui Loa.”
NCIS airs on CBS in the US. Seasons 1-20 are streaming on Disney+ in the UK.
