‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Star Commends Fan Efforts After Cancellation

Paramount+’s cancellation of NCIS: Tony & Ziva shocked many fans, prompting even some to begin efforts to save the show one way or another. It’s not uncommon for shows with huge followings that receive what fans think is an unfair cancellation, to speak out and take measures to demonstrate the show is worth continuing. Shows such as The Wheel of Time, My Lady Jane, and others prompted campaigns to save it. Now, after Tony & Ziva’s cancellation, it’s no different.

The “Tiva” spin-off, as it’s affectionately called, follows Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote De Pablo) on the run after Tony’s security firm is compromised. While co-parenting their daughter, they also have to make sure they don’t fall in love again (guess what fails?). The cancellation after one season of the NCIS spin-off had fans mobilizing within hours. The NCIS: Tony & Ziva Fans X account that created the billboard told Collider: “We set up a gofundme for this and were completely flabbergasted by the outpouring of support. We raised over $3,000 in a matter of days and have plans for more in the coming weeks.” Then, while ringing in 2026, their efforts were noticed by one of the cast members. Weatherly himself quoted a post on X explaining the efforts that included a billboard in Manhattan. He says:

“I want to just say how much this made me smile and maybe even nudged my tear ducts… beautiful, and I want to say a GIGANTIC thank you to any and all involved. I see you. I appreciate you. Big kiss for 2026.”

‘NCIS: Tony & Ziva’ Has the Following to Continue Tiva’s Story

While, yes, the series could be viewed as a self-contained limited series piece, giving fans a look at Tiva’s happily ever after, the quality of the show, in many ways, could have warranted many seasons to come. It balanced the overarching plot with the interpersonal character conflicts well. It gave fans of the franchise since NCIS first premiered in 2003 something different to sink their teeth into. Fans tuned in week in and week out, helping the series to secure a spot in Paramount+’s Top 10. Weatherly and De Pablo shared a joint statement when the series was canceled saying:

“We feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva’s story. Our deepest thanks go to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors, and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality. But most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.”
