Users of the major streaming platform have been left raging after bosses admitted that beloved period drama Bridgerton may not be back as early as people hoped for
Netflix users have said they will “cancel subscriptions” in response to some big Bridgerton news.
The period drama series, which follows the lives of the elite at the Bridgerton estate has become worldwide sensation. After three seasons of the show, fans have become desperate for as much drama and intrigue as possible.
Previously, the third series of the show had people livid as it had been split into two parts. As a result, viewers were forced to wait months to find out what happened to Lady Whistledown and the other stars of the period drama.
But now, fans are up in arms after bosses at the platform confirmed that the historical drama will hit screens in August 2026. This now carries on the trend of a new season of the show every two years.
Fans had been gripped by Kate’s storyline as she briefly appeared in the third edition of the show before heading to India with the head of the Bridgerton estate Viscount Anthony. The goal of the trip was so that their child would be in touch with their heritage, leaving viewers with many unanswered questions.
Netflix has confirmed that heartthrob Jonathan Bailey will be making a return in the fourth series, but co-star Simone Ashley’s disappearance from the line-up has been noticed by some eagle-eyed fans. Now, some fans are so irate at the prospect of losing Simone, some have vowed to stop watching if she does not show up.
Many have vented their frustrations on social media, with one fan fuming: “I cancelled my Netflix; I haven’t watched anything in months and while I was looking forward to Benophie, I’ll enjoy all their edits on social media now instead. Bridgerton has treated Simone Ashley like garbage, and that was really the last straw for me.”
A second user added: “I have yet to finish Bridgerton season 3 and can’t imagine returning if Simone Ashley isn’t in season 4.” Whilst a third account posted: “I’mma be so for real… If Simone Ashley is not in Bridgerton season 4, I don’t know if I will be able to watch it; no matter how much I love the books.”
Should Simone be culled from the line-up, this will not be the first time bosses at the platform have decided to give a character the chop. Duke Simon Hastings, played by babe Regé-Jean Page, was written out from the show after season 1, despite making Bridgerton a household must-watch.
Similarly, Regé’s on-screen wife Daphne Hastings, played by Phoebe Dynevor, was culled from the show. This was after a successful second series, prompting many to ask what will be next for the residents of the estate.
Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix.
