Netflix Subscribers Flee Following Controversial Bridgerton Season 4

Netflix viewers have said they’ve cancelled their subscription to the streaming service following a disappointing update about Bridgerton series four.

The next instalment of the hit show is currently being filmed and is due to be released in 2026. While it’s been confirmed that a number of iconic characters will be returning in the fourth season, fans have spotted that one star is still yet to confirm if they are returning to Bridgerton or not.

Actress Simone Ashley played Kate Bridgerton in series two and three of Bridgerton, but it hasn’t been revealed if she will be reprising her role in series four. Fans have shared their disappointment after spotting Simone’s name wasn’t included on a recent cast list.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “I have yet to finish Bridgerton Season 3 and can’t imagine returning if Simone Ashley isn’t in Season 4.”

A second Netflix viewer claimed they’d cancelled their subscription, saying: “I canceled my Netflix. I haven’t watched anything on it in months, and while I was looking forward to Benophie, I’ll enjoy all their edits on SM now instead. Bridgerton has treated Simone Ashley like garbage, and that was really the last straw for me.”

Simone led the second season of Bridgerton with her love interest Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey). She returned briefly in the third season but her character headed off to India with her husband so their unborn child could learn more about their heritage. It’s been confirmed that Jonathan will be returning as Anthony in season four.

A number of new faces will be joining the fourth series, including Yerin Ha, who will play Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) love interest, Sophie Baek. Other new castings include Katie Leung as Lady Araminta Gun, Michelle Mao as Rosamund Li, and Isabella Wei as Posy Li.

Actor Luke has teased what to expect from series four, telling Tudum: “What’s striking about Season 4 is that it’s the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale — the romance of it — and the actual reality of the world. And both are true. You have to hold both of them — the romance and the reality — in your hand. In its best version, ‘true love’ happens in the middle of that.”

Others confirmed to be appearing in the new series include Victor Alli (John Stirling), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Masali Baduza (Michaela Stirling) and Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Bridgerton).
