New Book of Lucy & Desi’s Love Letters Arriving This November

This fall, classic television fans will be treated to a deeply personal look into one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples. Lucy & Desi: The Love Letters, a collection of private correspondence between Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, will be released on November 4, 2025 in both hardcover and audiobook formats.

💌 A Romance Told Through Their Own Words

Compiled and edited by their daughter, Lucie Arnaz, the book features an extensive series of heartfelt, passionate, and at times, painfully honest letters exchanged between Lucy and Desi. Spanning decades—from their whirlwind courtship in the early 1940s through their rise to fame with I Love Lucy, and even into the years following their divorce—the letters offer a raw, unfiltered look into the emotional complexities of their relationship.

Included in the book are:

  • Dozens of original handwritten letters, some typed or scribbled on hotel stationery.
  • Full-color reproductions of envelopes, stamps, and unique stationery used throughout the years.
  • A selection of family photographs and candid snapshots from the Arnaz estate archive.
  • Contextual notes from Lucie Arnaz offering background stories and insights.

👩‍👧 A Daughter’s Discovery

Lucie Arnaz uncovered the letters while sorting through her late mother’s personal effects. Hidden in drawers, envelopes, and boxes stored in closets and dressing rooms, the letters had remained largely untouched for decades. According to Lucie, reading them was a revelation: “I knew they loved each other, but the depth of it… I hadn’t fully grasped. These letters brought their love back to life.”

Despite growing up amidst the tension of her parents’ failing marriage, Lucie was moved by the sincerity, humor, and vulnerability expressed in the letters. She decided to publish them to preserve the private history behind the public legends.

🎧 Also Coming in Audiobook

An audiobook edition will accompany the release, running approximately seven and a half hours in length. A professional narrator—yet to be announced—will read the letters aloud, capturing their emotion and intimacy in a way that feels personal and timeless.

Both the print and audio versions are expected to release simultaneously, with retail prices set at around $40 for the hardcover and $25 for the audiobook.
