Chicago Med has picked up two new season regulars for the upcoming Season 10. Sarah Ramos (The Bear) and Darren Barnet (Anyone But You) have signed onto the popular medical drama as Dr. Caitlin Lenox and Dr. John Frost, respectively.
With the news that they were joining the team, both actors had something to say about their new career journey.
Sarah Ramos Joins Chicago Med
Sarah Ramos started as a child actor, and one of her earliest roles came as Patty Pryor in the NBC series American Dreams when she was 11. She moved on to Parenthood in 2009 and also appeared in The Affair, Midnight, Texas, and The Bear on Hulu.
Sarah seems excited about the new role, as she posted something on her Instagram Stories about her casting, with a link to a news article about it. While she has been busy playing Jessica, the incredible restaurant wrangler in The Bear, this gives her a chance to take on a lead role once again.
Her last major role came in 2017-18 when she appeared in the short-lived Midnight, Texas, a supernatural series based on the novels by Charlaine Harris, who also wrote the books True Blood was based on.
Darren Barnet Talks Joining Chicago Med
Darren Barnet has celebrated joining Chicago Med. The actor made his name by playing Paxton Hall-Yoshida in Never Have I Ever and has added movie roles like Gran Turismo, Anyone But You, and Road House to his resume. He took his pride at the Chicago Med casting to Instagram
“Back to work! Beyond thrilled to join @nbcchicagomed as Dr. John Frost,” he wrote. “Also very excited to wear scrubs to work everyday. They are quite comfy. Let’s do this Chi-Town. Send recommendations. Please and thanks.”
Fans swept in to offer congratulations:
- “Congrats Darren. So happy for you! Well deserved.”
- “The fact that I’ve started so many series just because he’s in them.”
- “Aaaand now I will begin watching Chicago Med”
There is also a new showrunner for this new season in Allen MacDonald (13 Reasons Why, CSI). Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov stepped down from the position after running the show for nine seasons.
Other changes for the season include Dominic Rains (Dr. Crockett Marcel) leaving the series. The last season ended with him losing a patient and connecting the tragedy to losing his father. He is leaving and not dying, so there is a chance he could return down the line.
S. Epatha Merkerson, Jessy Schram, Marlyne Barrett, Luke Mitchell, Steven Weber, and Oliver Platt are all returning for Season 10, which premieres on September 25.
