More eyes are about to be on Mount Airy thanks to the Up Faith and Family streaming service.
The service is releasing a five-part series called “Mayberry Man,” focused on the town of Mayberry.
The show is a spinoff of the movie “Mayberry Man,” about a Hollywood actor who gets into trouble and is sentenced by a judge to spend a week at Mayberry Days.

Parts of the new series were filmed in the heart of Mount Airy.
WXII 12 photographer Shemont Green spoke with actor and filmmaker Chris Hudson, who is featured in the show. Hudson said the show is a present-day tribute to “The Andy Griffith Show.”
Hudson said, “We’re not trying to remake the show and remake everything they did in the 1960s. We’re just trying to continue the legacy of ‘The Andy Griffith Show,’ reach a new audience, new families and encourage people to watch it and come out to Mayberry and join our group.”
The first episode of “Mayberry Man — The Series” premieres May 30 on the Up Faith and Family streaming service.
