Hey, “The Good Doctor” fans. We hope you totally enjoyed the heck out of episode 10 tonight, especially since it will be the last episode of The Good Doctor that you’ll ever see forever. Yes, unfortunately, we do have official confirmation that ABC did indeed cancel the series.
According to the folks over at Deadline.com, ABC made the sad announcement way back in January 2024. Craig Erwich who is the president of Disney Television Group did have some very nice words to say about the show during the cancellation announcement
He stated, “Thanks to David Shore and Liz Friedman’s creative direction and anchored by Freddie Highmore’s performance, The Good Doctor has captivated audiences, who have deeply connected with Dr. Shaun Murphy and the staff at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. As we prepare to finish this beloved story, words cannot express our gratitude for the incredible cast, crew and our partners at Sony and ABC Signature for the lasting impact they’ve made.”
Dr. Shaun Murphy star Freddie Highmore had some thankful words to share about the ending of the show stating, “Playing Dr. Shaun Murphy has been an immense privilege and one of the most remarkable and rewarding experiences of my life.
I will always be grateful to David, Liz, and Erin as well as the hugely talented and lovely cast, writers, and crew who made this show possible. Caring deeply is what got us here. Thank you to Sony and ABC, and to everyone who has watched along at home. With love from Vancouver… tequila, stat!”
According to the LIVE Nielsen ratings, The Good Doctor season 7 averaged 2.478 million LIVE viewers per episode, and a 0.19 ratings score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode 9, which aired last Tuesday night, May 14, 2024, managed to draw in 2.294 million LIVE viewers, and a 0.20 ratings score.
The most-viewed episode was the premiere episode 1 with 2.859 million LIVE viewers. The least-viewed episode was episode 3 with 2.148 million LIVE viewers. The highest-rated episode was the premiere episode 1 with a 0.26 ratings score. The lowest-rated episode was episode 8 with a 0.14 ratings score.
