Nicola Coughlan’s season of Bridgerton has topped Netflix’s most watched in 2024 so far. The streaming giant announced that Season 3 of the hit show recorded some major stats in the first six months of the year.
Nicola Coughlan skyrocketed to a new level of fame this summer after the release of the third season where she played the role of People Featherington.
The Galway native’s love story featured as the main storyline, with some racy scenes in particular getting people talking. Netflix has now revealed that Bridgerton brought in a whopping 198 million views in the first half of 2024.
Season 3 alone garnered 92 million views in less than two months. Elsewhere, when compared to the latter half of 2023, views for Queen Charlette: A Bridgerton Story doubled and increased five times for Seasons 1 and 2.
Sadly for fans, there are already bets in the bookies that Coughlan could leave now that her character has starred as the show’s main focus.
James Leyfield of Casinos.com said: “Penelope is mentioned several times in the fifth book, but her mentions certainly dwindle compared to Julia’s debut Bridgerton book, The Duke and I, and second Bridgerton novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, while Penelope also had plenty of coverage in The Viscount Who Loved Me.
“As a result, this could mean Penelope’s Bridgerton days might be up in season four. Nicola is 6/4 to have just one more series in the show.”
The odds of Coughlan’s final appearance being in the fifth season are currently 2/1 and the sixth are 4/1. Bridgerton is expected to continue as long as it keeps tracking its successful figures.
