No More Doubt — Torres Takes the Lead in Intense New ‘Chicago P.D.’ Season 13 Promo md18

Your favorite police procedural is back. Following a huge Season 12 finale in which Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) finally tied the knot, Chicago P.D. returned this week, back in its usual Wednesday night slot alongside the rest of the One Chicago line-up. Picking up a month after Voight (Jason Beghe) helped orchestrate the Chief’s death, the premiere was packed full of tense action and high drama, just as fans would have expected.

Following the premiere episode, the promo for Season 13, Episode 2, “Open Wounds,” was released and is available to watch below. Excitingly, the promo for Episode 2 puts to bed the whispered rumors of one actor’s departure from the series, among the many others to have exited. During Season 12, Dante Torres, played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar, spent a significant portion of the season off-screen, whilst a storyline played out that seemingly put his career in jeopardy. With only Burgess (Marina Squerciati) addressing his absence, fans grew more and more concerned that Season 12 would prove to be the end of the line for Torres. Watch the promo below:

What Is Season 13, Episode 2 About?

Dante Torres

Thankfully, as can be seen in the promo, this is not the case, as Torres leaps back into the action. “The Intelligence Unit races against time when a man from Torres’ own neighborhood is violently abducted,” the synopsis for the episode reads, with the breathless preview showcasing a race-against-the-clock that is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Hopefully, a case as personal as this for Torres will help to continue to make him feel part of the team, a problem Aguilar previously spoke about in an interview. The actor said:

“I don’t know if he thinks he doesn’t belong, but he is different, there’s no denying it. There’s no denying the way he polices is different, the skills he brings are different, the way he is, is just different. He’s of a different nature, which is such a tool to have, but also look at the consequences, too. It’s like having more of a question mark on the team. A very effective question mark, but also still finding out who he is in a way through it all. He’s young, he’s gone through so much, he has such a skill set, but also a lot of demons.”

Chicago P.D. continues Wednesdays on NBC. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the best network television.
