Originally premiering in the 1970s, All in the Family featured Carroll O’Connor as Archie Bunker, a character known for his controversial views. The series became a ratings success and is often regarded as one of the greatest sitcoms in television history.

Lear expressed his desire to focus on new ideas rather than rehashing old material. He mentioned having around 100 concepts that have been in development for years, aiming to bring fresh stories to life instead of reviving familiar titles.Norman Lear looks back on 'All in the Family,' 50 years after its debut : NPR

Given the current political climate, some fans might find it intriguing to see a character like Archie Bunker return. However, Lear’s decision seems rooted in a desire to preserve the legacy of the original show without risking controversy similar to that experienced by other reboots.
